About The Foundry

What is The Foundry and what is offered?
The Foundry is an athlete development center dedicated to building your game through our 43,000 square foot sports facility and sports experts. Age and ability is a non-factor under our roof. We welcome everyone to allow us to reveal the athlete in them.

The Foundry has six volleyball courts with the ability to play basketball, futsal, tennis, and pickle ball. Strength and conditioning courses, as well as fitness classes, are also available to the general public. We’ve employed the very latest with indoor floor technology to create a playing surface that best simulates the response of a suspended wood floor. The use of millions of tiny rubber pellets allied to the stone underlay provides an added shock absorption not seen at other indoor centers. This not only enhances the playing experience of our customers but also reduces risk of injury.

With accurate court markings and interchangeable court functions we are able to accommodate a variety of different sports. This versatility is one of our greatest strengths, and yet one more service component you can’t find elsewhere. Possibilities range from Volleyball to Basketball and Futsal, from Tennis to Pickleball – all without compromising the integrity of the game. With 30 feet of clear height and 17 automated curtains, The Foundry has the unique ability to be divided up into several areas if needed. For example, any combination of volleyball, basketball, futsal, tennis and pickleball can be played simultaneously under one roof. The Foundry is also available for private functions such as parties, corporate events, expos and health fairs.

    Allison Magner's Bio
Magner brings over 13 years of both collegiate playing and coaching experience. In 2008 Magner joined the inaugural athletic staff at the Academy of Art University and became a part of NCAA history. The Academy of Art University started an entire Division II collegiate program completely from scratch and is the only art school in the country that is a member of the prestigious NCAA. Magner was a member of the Academy of Art volleyball program, which included stints as, assistant coach, associate head coach and ultimately head coach. Magner also served as an Assistant Athletic Director during her time at the Academy of Art University.

Coach Magner arrived at the Academy of Art University with a wealth of experience from both coaching and playing at the Division I level. She spent two seasons at Western Carolina University as assistant coach of the Catamounts. In 2004, Magner was offered the assistant coach’s position at the University of Alabama Birmingham. In addition to assisting with on-the-floor coaching, Magner worked primarily with the middle blockers. She was also involved in practice planning, recruiting, event management, equipment, team travel, summer camps and team marketing; all of which made her a viable option for the interim head coach position in 2005. Magner, who was the second-youngest head coach in Division I collegiate volleyball, led the UAB Blazers to a 14-13 record, snapping an eight-year slide of sub-.500 finishes and doing so with only nine players. The Magner-led 2005 UAB volleyball squad turned things around for the greatest single-season improvement in school history with 14 wins including eight consecutive victories to open the season.

A native of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Magner spent two seasons as a student-athlete with the North Carolina State Wolfpack volleyball team. She transferred to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and was a two-year letter winner for the Blazers in 2001 and 2002. Magner graduated with a degree in marketing and a minor in international business. She also completed her MBA at UAB in 2006.

Magner is currently working with her two best friends, a husband & wife team that founded the LEMO Foundation. The LEMO foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit that incorporates an innovative approach to mentoring high-school students through life skills performance, academic performance & athletic performance. LEMO is a family that ultimately strives to fulfill their mission to build champions for life.
